Colorado Review of Anesthesia for Surgicenters & Hospitals (CRASH)

February 25-29, 2024

Overview

CRASH is a week-long anesthesia conference starting Sunday evening and ending Thursday evening. We have lectures in the morning and panels and workshops in the afternoons to allow for plenty of slope time during the day. We bring in top guest speakers from all throughout North America as well as many of our own nationally renowned faculty. CRASH typically hosts over 300 physicians, nurse anesthetists, anesthesiology assistants, residents, and other health care providers, representing both domestic and international attendees. Over fifty percent of our participants return each year to gain the valuable knowledge offered at this conference!

The CRASH conference, located at The Hythe, (formerly the Vail Marriott) at Lionshead Village, is family-friendly and enables attendees to obtain the most CME while still enjoying a plethora of outdoor activities within walking distance to the Gondola Ski Lift, very competitive room rates, and group rates on lift tickets.

Why CRASH?

Most mountain conferences have lectures in the morning and afternoon and not much else to offer. We offer multiple learning options for several reasons:

  • Studies show that most people learn best using a variety of techniques; the least effective is sitting in a room while someone gives a lecture. That is still the best way to get a lot of information to a large group of people, but retention is limited. The most effective educational techniques include hands-on and interactive sessions with smaller groups.
  • We are lucky to have an incredible faculty at the University of Colorado that includes many nationally and internationally renowned speakers. Our incredible University of Colorado faculty and guest speakers are not only nationally and internationally known anesthesiologists, they are dedicated educators well-accomplished in meeting diverse learning needs.
  • This isn’t a one-size fits all conference; the variety of learning opportunities, specializations and choices ensures a curriculum tailor-made to meet your goals.
  • We intersperse hands-on workshops and panel discussions to keep participants engaged and learning even after a long day of skiing.

    Welcome Letter

On behalf of the University of Colorado Department of Anesthesiology and the Colorado Review of Anesthesia for Surgicenters & Hospitals (CRASH) 2024 Committee, we are delighted to invite you to join us at the beautiful Hythe Vail February 26-29, 2024.

We are proud to say that the 2024 event will be our 32nd annual conference. This year, attendees will enjoy a varied educational syllabus tailored for everyone providing anesthesia care, along with the opportunity to earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. We are fortunate have presenters that are Anesthesiology experts in the fields of regional anesthesia, obstetric care, ischemic heart disease, geriatric care, trauma, pediatrics, neurosurgery and ambulatory care guiding this year’s curriculum. In addition, there are regional anesthesia, difficult airway and point of care ultrasound workshops to catch up on all the latest technology developments and specialized anesthetic techniques. The afternoon panel discussions are a great way to interact with experts and discuss approaches to care for challenging patients.

I am excited to act as Course Director this year, along with my colleague Bethany Benish as Co-Director and we look forward to hosting you and your families at this year’s conference!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
